Hello everyone,
I am opening this thread to gather community feedback, policy viewpoints, and legal insights on three growing practices that affect job seekers, privacy, and digital assets across the EU.
Shelling is an effective strategy to bypass certain laws that would be considered broken if made directly from the practicing company. Many exploitative techniques are used through shell companies that hurt citizen's everyday life behind their back.
First, many EU-based employers redirect applicants to non-EEA third-party platforms that mandate jobseeker candidates primarily in the tech field to complete AI video recordings / interviews and automated biometric processing. This shifts biometric data out of EU jurisdiction without effective candidate choice.
Second, third-party entities flood major job boards in the EU with copy-pasted job listings. These accounts often act as data harvesters to gather and resell resume data abroad and are effectively preventing quality working applications from reaching the candidate's eye ,pushing the job seeking exhaustion further. Examples of some companies that apply those practices are Alignerr, Hired, Haystack ,Hire Feed..
Third, opaque shell companies acquire European books and media, transferring IP outside the EEA to train AI models without clear paper trails or compliance with EU standards.
I am researching the viability of an initiative addressing these issues by enforcing limits on duplicate job posts, restricting mandatory external AI video scans, and requiring beneficial ownership and end-use transparency for IP transfers.
How can EU regulations better hold EU employers accountable for using non-compliant external screening platforms? What legal mechanisms exist under current EU law to tackle bulk CV scraping and shell-company data laundering? Are there existing policy frameworks that already target these exact practices?
Additionally, I am briefly opening a search for partners and co-organizers across different EU countries to help refine these ideas and potentially form a team. If you have expertise in this area or wish to discuss this further, please share your thoughts below or contact me directly.
