Legislation to support tele-work and reduce traffic

Agree with this completely.  The technology is there to allow people to work remotely with effectiveness.  The benefits of enabling this in terms of work life balance, reduction of traffic and carbon emissions is potentially huge.  The challenge is cultural in many organisations, but a push from legislation would help to start the change process.

Ik denk dat het meer om initiatieven gaat dan om wetgeving. Een goed idee, maar werkgevers en werknemers moeten gegronde redenen hebben om dit te doen. Productiviteit, bijvoorbeeld lagere kosten, meer persoonlijke tijd enz. Het idee kan echter worden verruimd en de voordelen ervan kunnen worden vergroot. Indien een werknemer telewerk kan verrichten vanuit een plaats in Zuid-Europa waar de kosten van verwarming en levensonderhoud lager zijn dan die in zijn woonplaats, althans gedurende een deel van het jaar? Voordat u het idee verwerpt, ga dan na hoeveel energie er wordt besteed aan verwarming, elektriciteit enz. in Centraal- en Noord-Europa. Er zijn nog andere voordelen, zoals een beter gevoel om Europeaan te zijn, een verandering van het „persoonlijke klimaat”, misschien minder behoefte aan reizen op vakantie en nog veel meer.
