Legislation to support tele-work and reduce traffic

Agree with this completely.  The technology is there to allow people to work remotely with effectiveness.  The benefits of enabling this in terms of work life balance, reduction of traffic and carbon emissions is potentially huge.  The challenge is cultural in many organisations, but a push from legislation would help to start the change process.

I think it is more a matter of initiatives provided than legislation. A sound idea but employers and employees must have sound reasons to adopt it. Productivity for example, lower costs, more personal time etc.The idea can be widened though and its benefits multiplied. If an employee can tele-work then why not do it from a place in South Europe where heating and living expenses are lower than those in their home location, at least for part of the year? Before you reject the idea, check how much energy is expended in heating, electricity etc in Central and North Europe. There are further benefits such as a better sense of being European, a change of 'personal climate', perhaps less of a need to travel on holiday and many more.
