The following Directive provides for the recognition of A.M.I. Montessori professional qualifications for professions regulated both in the Member State where the qualification was obtained and in the Member State where the candidate would like to practise his profession.
On the basis of Article 166(4) TFEU and 165 TFEU, we call for the recommendation of the European Commission for the Montessori formation in the European Union.
Since Montessori pedagogy is widely used in Europe in its public and private sectors, the European Commission could encourage the exchange of information between those Member States which recognise this qualification and those which do not recognise it, or seek to increase the mobility of educated Montessori teachers by promoting mutual exchange programmes, or encourage cooperation between educational institutions providing training for Montessori teachers and public teachers.
This recognition promotes the improvement of quality and equity in education among Member States.
