Freedom of Choice and Consent Regarding Desktop O/S, Desktop apps and phone apps.

Phone apps fill our phone space with their useless apps for their own gain and leave next to no space for the phone owners app choices. We are inundated with offers and suggestions for their own brands.

My Desktop O/S windows 10 opens its own browser on start up. It opens all windows from emails in its browser. I need the freedom to choose from the beginning, not to be imposed on by this operating system.

Even my printer app was harassing me with a message for months because I didn’t change one cartridge. Let alone the harassment from anti-virus software add-ons and extras.

All apps whether desktop or phone need to request consent for their notifications, services offers or installation. No automatic persistent harassing messages must be allowed after the choice has been made by the user. Or the user can be given a choice of 1-3 reminders.

Dear Julia,

Thanks a lot for sharing your idea. We are looking forward to follow the discussion here on the Forum.

On that note: do you know about the Digital Markets Act that the European Commission proposed? Maybe some elements of the proposal could be an interesting contribution to this discussion.

Best regards,
