Ideas from youth participants on what whey would like the EU to take more action on - LevelUp Event (Brussels)

At the end of October, several hundred young participants at the LevelUp event at the European Parliament brainstormed ideas on what they would like the EU to take more action on, see the ideas below.

What are your thoughts on these ideas? Would you create an ECI from these initial ideas of Europe’s youth?

In which area would you like the EU to take more action? Do you have a concrete idea?  

Youth:

- Youth unemployment

- Youth involvement and gender equality

- Youth employment in EU institutions

- Youth participation in decision-making processes

- More empowerment and trainings for youth from underrepresented nations and peoples

 

Governance:

- Overcome unanimity in Council

- Making heritage part of legislation

- Improve public exchanges

- Migration policies to be more inclusive 

- Youth-led strategies

 

Education:

- Education about disinformation

 

Environment/Climate Change:

- R-Taxation of surfeits from fossil fuel companies

- Improve and increase train infrastructures

 

Energy:

- Tackling energy prices

- Renewable energies and nuclear energies

 

Health:

- Mental health, peer support groups and user led groups

 

Gender issues:

- Women’s rights and LGBTQ+ rights

- Equality in the EU

 

Education:

- Free access to university degrees

- Education reform

- Improved media literacy

- Cultural education for youth

 

Transportation

- Free public transportation

- Eco-friendly transportation

- International transportation connections
