Hello :)

I am looking for EU citizens interested in joining the launch of a new European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI) focused on strengthening citizens’ participation in the European Union.

The initiative would develop around three strategic pillars:

1. Mobility and Erasmus+
The initiative aims to strengthen and extend Erasmus+, promoting a more effective use of available resources to better support participants’ monthly living costs during study, traineeship and volunteering experiences. As an example, it builds on measures already used in the European Solidarity Corps, such as support for accommodation costs, to ensure that housing difficulties do not prevent access to mobility opportunities.

It also offers:

opening Erasmus+ mobility to upper secondary school students from the age of 16, and

developing exchange and participation programmes for citizens who are excluded from current mobility schemes due to age limits.

2. Strengthening the European Citizens’ Initiative
The initiative seeks to improve the effectiveness of the ECI by:

improving registration procedures and dialogue with organisers, especially in cases of refusal based on competence issues;

strengthening the follow-up to successful initiatives, including regular tracking of legislative and non-legislative actions (legislative footprint);

increased flexibility in signature collection timelines where strong support is already evident;

reinforcing the role of the European Parliament in the follow-up of successful ECIs, through a limited and fully compatible form of legislative initiative.

3. A permanent Conference on the Future of Europe
Finally, the initiative proposing establishing a permanent Conference on the Future of Europe, with citizens’ panels organised regularly (every 2–3 years), to embed structured citizen participation into EU decision-making.

To registered register an ECI, we need:

at least 6 EU citizens,

resident in any EU Member State,

from at least 6 different EU countries.

I am Italian, so I am above looking for people from other Member States.

If you are interested in co-organising, shaping the initiative, or simply learning more at this early stage, feel free to contact me at:

Looking forward to connecting with you!
