On 3 March, the European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI) Day brought together organisers, civil society actors, activists and NGOs at the European Economic and Social Committee.
At a time when citizen participation matters more than ever, the ECI remains the only participatory democracy tool that allows EU citizens to invite the European Commission to propose new legislation. The ECI Day created space for current and future organisers to exchange experiences, meet potential supporters and discover the tools that can transform a civic concern into a European campaign.
Did the exchanges at ECI Day spark an idea for change? If you could launch a European Citizens’ Initiative, what issue would you put on the EU agenda?
