European Citizens’ Initiative to commit the European Union to a world free of nuclear weapons

This preliminary draft proposes to invite the European Commission to present a legislative proposal to the European Parliament, which incorporates into European law the requirements of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and the subsequent Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (CTBT).

We would like to encourage Member States to ratify the TIAN and to make the EU a nuclear-weapon-free zone.

We need immediate and long-term measures in view of the ever risk to international nuclear security related to nuclear weapons and the preparation of an EU agenda for the elimination of such weapons.
